System requirements

Supported OS

  • Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit and 64-bit where applicable)
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 through current Server releases
  • Administrator rights recommended for service installation

Hardware & footprint

  • Any modern x86/x64 CPU — ProBalance scales from laptops to Threadripper
  • Minimal RAM overhead; designed to stay out of the way at idle
  • ~3 MB free disk for the installer and program files
  • No .NET Framework install step required for the core package

What you get in the package

Core engine

  • ProBalance responsiveness control under heavy CPU load
  • Persistent process priorities and CPU affinities
  • Process Governor service for headless / always-on enforcement
  • Live CPU graphs and an actionable process roster

Automation & control

  • Watchdog rules for CPU, memory, and runtime thresholds
  • CPU Limiter and Instance Balancer options
  • Power plan and GPU preference tooling on supported builds
  • Free edition with core ProBalance; Pro unlocks the full rule stack

Install in four steps

  1. Download the EXE from this page. Prefer processlasso.co over unknown mirrors.
  2. Run the installer and allow elevation when Windows asks — needed to register Process Governor.
  3. Keep ProBalance armed on first launch. Defaults already protect interactive responsiveness.
  4. Optional: add affinities, Watchdog recipes, or close the GUI and let Governor keep policies alive.

Integrity & antivirus

SHA256 · publish your hash here when mirrors are attached

Process Lasso changes process priorities and affinities by design. Some antivirus products treat that as suspicious. After you verify the hash:

  • Whitelist the install folder (typically under Program Files\Process Lasso)
  • Avoid disabling real-time protection entirely — use a scoped exclusion
  • Re-download if the hash does not match a published value

More detail lives on the Trust & Security page.

Free vs Pro

Free

Ideal for trying ProBalance and basic process insight. Keeps the desktop responsive under load without the full automation suite.

Pro

Unlocks persistent affinities, Watchdog actions, CPU Limiter, Instance Balancer, advanced power-plan controls, and the complete rule engine for workstations and servers.
